Max was born through emergency C-section after his mother told her nurse during a routine appointment that she hadn’t felt him kick in a while. His parents were so excited to finally meet him, and while they were prepared for Max’s diagnosis of Down syndrome that they had discovered earlier in the pregnancy, they were not ready for the reason for the emergency C-section, which was that Max had had a stroke in utero. Thankfully, the staff from Children’s Hospital were on standby and were able to resuscitate Max moments after birth, and immediately transport him to ETCH to begin treating him for his stroke. Max’s family is so grateful for everyone a Children’s Hospital because if they had even been five minutes later to his delivery, Max would not be here today. He continues to receive the best care at Children’s Hospital, from follow-ups in just about every department to physical, occupational, and speech therapies.
